Laken Lovely’s little brother, Charlie Lovely, passed away on January 1, 2009 at 1:40 AM, exactly 62 days after he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. He was 16 years old. He started a foundation to benefit children battling cancer, and to help close the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Survival Gap. He named it LiveLovely and appointed his big sister, Laken, as the director. Along with running the LiveLovely Foundation (www.livelovely.org), she is a free-lance writer and author of Through Charlie’s Eyes. It is her mission to spread the message and love given to her by her brother. She currently resides in Nashville, Tn.
